How it works
We scope your environment, assess it against the Security Rule, and give you a ranked remediation plan with owners.
Who it is for
Covered entities and business associates, including practices, clinics, billing companies and software vendors that touch patient data.
Common questions
What is a HIPAA security risk analysis, and how often is it needed?
It is a documented assessment of the risks to the electronic patient information you create, receive, store or send. The Security Rule requires one, and regulators expect it to be kept current. Update it when your systems, vendors or operations change, and review it at least once a year.
Do business associates need to comply with HIPAA?
Yes. Business associates, such as billing companies, IT providers and software vendors that handle patient data for a covered entity, must meet the Security Rule requirements and sign business associate agreements.
What happens if we have a breach?
You must assess the incident, document your findings, and notify affected individuals without unreasonable delay and no later than 60 days after discovery. Notification to HHS is also required, and larger breaches have additional steps. Call us and your counsel early. Our incident response planning work prepares these steps in advance.
Is there an official HIPAA certification?
No. HHS does not certify products, vendors or organizations. Be cautious of anyone who sells a HIPAA certificate. What regulators look for is a current risk analysis, documented policies and evidence that you follow them.
Build once. Comply many.
We run compliance on the Secure Controls Framework (SCF): one control set mapped to the frameworks you need, so the work is connected instead of repeated. See how we use SCF.
Check where you stand
Take a short readiness check for CMMC Level 1, CMMC Level 2, HIPAA and HITECH, or Texas SB 2610. Not sure what applies? Book a scoping call. It works for any framework.
